I’m off on vacation this week and largely away from an Internet connection. In the spirit of vacationing and adventuring, here are some great local or mindful food events coming up this weekend. To stay up to date with events across the country, check out our events page. If you know of one that we missed, drop us a note.
Toronto’s Festival of Beer
August 5-8 at Exhibition Place
From the website: “Toronto’s Festival of Beer is a celebration of Canada’s rich brewing history, hosted by experts of the brewing craft from around the world. Featuring more than 120 brands onsite, this is Canada’s premier celebration of the golden beverage!” I’m planning on checking this one out myself this weekend. I’ll let you know what I think.
Fete Eco-Bio-Paysanne
August 6-8 at the TOHU, Montreal
This fair is great. It’s an opportunity to talk to local organic producers and discover products that you may never see in shops near you. From the website: “Whether you’re a dare-devil environmentalist, an inveterate fan of the organic, or simply curious, you’ll find everything you need at this fun-filled farmers market. The atmosphere is easy-going, and you’ll be welcomed by displays of the latest environment-friendly clothing, exhibitors passionate about their products, and local growers eager to have you taste the fruits of their labour. Daytime activities include outdoor shows and makeup workshops, with helpful hosts, and more!”
Festival des vins de Terrebonne
August 7-8, Ile des Moulins, Terrebonne, Qc
Described as the second most important vinticultural event in the province, the Festival des vins de Terrebonne brings together wine producers from across Quebec and internationally for two days of wine and cheese tastings, as well as showcasing of other local foods. The programme features wine tasting workshops and musical events.
