My reads are short and sweet this week since I’ve been traveling and haven’t had much Internet time. I’ve enjoyed these ones though, and hope you do too.
Freezing Strawberries: The Basics. Aimee from Under The High Chair and Simple Bites prepares us for an early strawberry season by giving us some tips for freezing these sweet delights, as well as a couple of yummy recipes.
Drinking Local. Susan Semenak at the Gazette writes about microbreweries and brewpubs in the province. Did you know that there are over 400 in Quebec, and some Quebec brews are exported worldwide?
The Plastic Poisons in Our Canned Foods. Over at The Atlantic, Marion Nestle gives us a good reason to avoid canned food.
The Food Movement, Rising. And in The New York Times, Michael Pollan reviews five books pertinent to the food movement.
Defining Local. Finally, the folks over at Farm to Table blog about a recent 87-page report from the Economic Research Service of the USDA that explores the local food movement.

We were in Old Montreal a coupla weeks ago, and a bistro advertised “150 local beers”, which at first we thought was really impressive, but then we realised “Hey – we can probably name more than that!”
